What personal data we collect and why we collect it

By default we do not share any of your personal data with anyone outside of SCMG Enterprises, LLC.

Gathered information:

– Contact forms

By default, We do not include a contact form. If you do submit a contact form; we keep contact form submissions for the period of time necessary for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes… unless you specifically subscribe to our NewsLetter… in which case the information collected consists of the information you voluntarily submit in the form, which may indeed be used for marketing purposes.

– Comments…

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. If you engage the comment system: visitor comments will be checked through an automated spam detection service – Akismet – you may read their privacy policy, and data policy as linked to from the site. We collect information about visitors who comment on our Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information collected depends on how the WebMaster sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

– Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

– Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day. Other cookies may last for a specific period of time, as noted in our Cookie Policy.

– Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

– Analytics

We use Google Analytics on our sites… you may find out how Google Analytics may process you information, and what data policies they have in Google’s Analytics Privacy Policy.

Who we share your data with & Where we send your data

If you purchase products or services from us – we will transmit some of your personal data to PayPal… in order to complete the transaction. You may read PayPal’s Privacy Policy in order to ascertain what they do with the data we send them, and what their related data policies are. Since we are your hosting provider, and Managed IT service provider, we may retain your data to fulfill services for you – such as – your web hosting, cloud storage, or other services.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Additionally; if you become a customer of ours, we will retain your information indefinately in order to provide appropriate customer service(s) to you – until such time that you are no longer a customer, and we no longer have need of your information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

This includes technical measures such as encryption; security measures such as two factor authentication; and measures such as staff training in data protection.

– What data breach procedures we have in place

The procedures we have in place to deal with data breaches, either potential or real, include internal reporting systems, contact mechanisms, and bug bounties. We also encrypt the stages of data transfer from our website, to the systems where the data will be used.
